It’s the month of November and if you don’t know already then its Movember. When men across the world grow a moustache to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues.
The aim is to start November off with a clean shave and spend the rest of the month trying to grow a Tom Selleck Magnum PI moustache often with rather humorous effects. As we know some of us can grow better face hair then others and there our a few of us with wispy spider legs crawling on the top of our lips.
The taking part is the most important thing and effectively you are a walking billboard for the month and you will raise awareness by conversation about your attention grabbing moustache.
Movember started in 2003 in Australia and it proved a big success and has spread around the globe and now groups of friends or colleagues grow their moustache in November which often culminates with a party at the end of the month with a prize for the much coveted award for best moustache ‘Man of Movember’.
Here are a few styles you can try and don during Movember:

The legend of romance and oysters has a long history that goes back to Ahrpodite the Greek goodness of love who rose from the sea on an oyster shell. The legendary lothario Casinova was reputed to eating a dozen before each meal. If you haven’t tried them already then you should !
If you are opening an oyster these are the tools needed an oyster Knife and a kitchen towel.
Use the folded kitchen towel, hold oyster level as to not loose any liquid. Hold the knife curved side down, tracing the upper shell, cutting the adductor muscle and removing the top shell.
Then go curved side up along the bottom, again severing the adductor. Oyster knives are gently curved in order to follow the shape of the shell. It is an easy process.
Leave the oyster sitting in the bottom shell and serve with lemon juice or some tabasco sauce is a good alternative.
Best way to eat an oyster?
There is no right way to eat an oyster exactly so relax you won’t make a fool of yourself. Use your small fork and move the oyster slightly in its liquid filled half shell this will make sure the oyster is detached.
Then pick up the shell and slurp it into your mouth from the wide end of the shell.
The popular myth is to swallow the oyster whole but it is actually best to chew the oyster once or twice before swallowing. This allows you to taste the oyster and get its true flavour.
The Chinese take toasting very seriously ! Since Chinas emergence as an emerging economic power interest in the country and its culture has intensified.
If you do find yourself sitting down with a few of the locals in Guangzhou or Shenyang or any of the new cities which are sprouting up around the country. You will have to drink shots or face disrespecting your host.
When the host makes a toast to someone, the hope is that person will drink more so that hospitality is delivered.
The shot of choice is generally Bajju which is Chinese grain liquor which is rather strong.
The more the guests drink the happier the host so expect group shots and individual shots. There are no elaborate speeches but there is a protocol will be followed in which the guests will try and drink you under the table.
If the people at the party keep clinking the side of your glass with the rim of theirs then it’s a sign of honour. If someone particularly likes you they will find reasons to have multiple shots with you.
There is a lot of drinking involved but that is combine with a lot of wonderful Chinese food so that keeps your stomach lined.
The Chinese for Cheers is ganbei remember it because you will use it a whole lot !
How to tie a bow tie
With the Christmas Party Season upon is, its time to learn how to tie your bow tie.
Honestly, its not that difficult once you know how and its a gent skill for life.
It probably wont turn out prefect the first time but have a few goes.
follow this quick guide and learn the skill.
Lift up your collar and put the tie around your neck so the ends hang down in front. One end should hang a little longer about one and a half inches lower.
Bring the longer end across, under, around and over then shorter end, forming a knot. Pull the knot to a good fit around your neck.
Fold the shorter end at the widest point, to form a bow shape. The bow shape should be in front. Hold the bow in a horizontal position at your neck.
Bring the longer end over and in front of the shorter end.
Fold the longer end where the hourglass shape begins to narrow, forming a second bow.
Bring the second bow under the first bow and tuck it in.
You should now be looking sharp, time to enjoy the party, and feel free to untie the bowtie in a bond style fashion as the night reaches its latter stages.
